Irishman Mark Pollock was the first blind man to the South Pole. Mark took part in the Round-Ireland Yacht Race and Point the Way developed an application that used SMS to send Mark’s GPS location back to a central database every 5 minutes. We also captured signal-strength data off the Irish coast for O2 Telefonica. The solution we developed ran on two Android smartphones (one inside the cabin and one outside the cabin and both in waterproof covers).
